November 2006

To all Felbridge Residents

As you are well aware, there have been several applications for planning permission for infill developments in Felbridge village recently, particularly along Copthorne Road.  A number of residents have raised concerns about these developments.  Each application is looked at individually by the Parish Council and the merits of each application are carefully considered.

The Parish Council has objected to all multiple development applications on both sides of Copthorne Road between Mill Lane and The Star Inn in recent years, where we feel that there is a major impact on the local area and the green belt.

The views of the Parish Council are made known to both Tandridge District Council and Mid Sussex District Council, who take these into account when reaching their planning decisions.

Tandridge District Council has, for many years and in collaboration with Felbridge Parish Council, objected in principle to the expansion of East Grinstead, and together with Felbridge Parish Council has objected to housing allocations in the East Grinstead Plan.

Residents may also be interested to know that Tandridge District Council continually monitors its housing land supply.  On the basis of the current oversupply which exists across Tandridge District, Tandridge District Council resolved on 31st October 2006 to re-introduce its policy which seeks to restrict the further grant of planning permission on sites of over 10 dwellings (or in excess of 0.4 hectares), unless there are particular environmental, social, community or economic benefits arising.  This re-introduced policy will apply to planning applications made after 1st November 2006.

Yours sincerely,

Felbridge Parish Council
