Felbridge Country Show proposed to celebrate
the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Sat 16thJune 2012
To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next year a small group have got
together, with Felbridge Parish Council backing, to organise a Felbridge
Country Show This will be instead of the usual Felbridge Fair and is
hoped to be more like a mini South of England Show encompassing as many
Felbridge clubs, associations, businesses, schools and people as
possible. It is early days but we would like as many people as possible
to join our working party to organise this event. They are asking all the
clubs, associations etc to ask if they would like to promote themselves at the
event and if they would like to join the working party. Also, they would
welcome any Felbridge resident who feels they can help or offer their
expertise. They are aiming to have a Food Marquee, Arts and Crafts Marquee and
a Horticultural Marquee, with competitions in various categories,
demonstrations and private stall holders. Other attractions that have so
far been suggested are: a Skittles Competition, pony rides, miniature train
rides, fancy dress competition, Mut (dog) Show, beer tent and family barbeque
and disco in the evening. Ideally they would also like to have demonstrations
provided by some of the Felbridge clubs etc, dancing by the Roshe Performing
Arts School, Felbridge School, the Line Dancers and Old Time Dancers (only
Roshe and the School have been contacted so far and they have both agreed), or
perhaps a drill or marching demo from the Army Cadets, keep fit/aerobics. They
are hoping to use the Village Hall and grounds, the School grounds and
Felbridge Common under the chestnuts trees from the Village Hall up to the A264
as this could involve the Village Shop and Rags. It is early days yet and these
are just a few ideas, nothing has been finalised, except that YOU
ARE NEEDED- volunteers to help see this event to fruition. If any one
would like to get involved or would like more information please contact
Stephonie Clarke either by e-mail, jerry@felbridge.org.uk,
Facebook or phone 01342 715830.
