INAUGRAL SURREY SPRING SHOW 15th MAY
AT FELBRIDGE SHOWGROUND
Raising funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and St
Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley
“We are
incredibly pleased to announce that the Surrey Spring Show and raffle has
raised a staggering £14,545.94 to date at their inaugural show held on 15th
May 2011” announces Sharon Warburton, show treasurer.
With over 370
entries to the day the show was a huge success and very well supported by the
local equestrian community although a number of entries came from Berkshire,
Hampshire and Kent. “We are overjoyed by the number of entries we have had at
the show and the fact that some people have traveled so far to attend all means
a great deal to the committee,” said Chairwoman Anita Reid, “next year we have
already agreed to extend the secretaries tent to triple the size and would like
to thank everyone for their patience first thing, we are completely overjoyed
by the level of support for the show. We would also like to thank those outside
of the horse world who had heard about the show through our marketing campaign
and very generously turned up on Sunday morning with cakes for our cake stand.”
With 36
classes, 4 championships (all results will be on our web site shortly:
www.surreyspringshow.org ) clear round jumping, mounted games and handy pony on
offer, the committee along with over 90 volunteers on the day worked tirelessly
to ensure there was something for everyone. “We simply would not have been able
to put on the show without all the volunteers who gave up their time for free
before and on the day itself. From judges, stewards, assistants, catering,
raffle tickets selling and car parking, the list is pretty much endless, we are
very grateful to them all” said Sam Holland, sponsor and volunteer coordinator.
Over 80
companies and individuals sponsored classes, rings, equipment and trophies at
the show, and donated some wonderful raffle prizes. “Our sponsors have been
great patrons of the show this year and their support cannot be under-estimated
in ensuring the success” said Mikie Holland, sponsor co-coordinator and show
ground management.
“Overall we
cannot express our gratitude enough to everyone who both took part and helped
us in bringing the show together and raising such an incredible amount of money
for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and St Catherine’s Hospice,” said Liz
Daniell, committee secretary “we have all really enjoyed putting on this show
and look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!”
For everyone on
the committee there were very personal reasons for the foundation of the Surrey
Spring Show and they have worked for 7 months to bring together a day in which
hundreds of people have had a wonderful day out whilst raising money for two
charities which help and support so many people. A huge thank you to them for
providing such a wonderful day which raised so much money.
