PLANS are well in hand for the Country Show in the village on Saturday, June 16th. This year it will replace the annual Village Fair as part of local celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

On the village hall site there will be a Food tent and competitions for Arts & Crafts, Photography, Horticulture and Domestic as well as stalls and side shows.

Under the Evelyn chestnuts along Crawley Down Road it is hoped to have a Scarecrow Competition and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic (with Jubilee theme). Other events will be held at the sports ground and on the village green.

Any local group or organisation wishing to take part or have a stall should get in touch with Stephonie Clarke on 01342 715830.

PARISH COUNCIL meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in the village hall at 7.30pm. The next one will be on February 2. The next Planning Meeting is on Thursday, February 16.

Village residents are invited to raise matters of local interest or concern during the first ten minutes of the meetings.

Further information from the Parish Clerk, Ros White, on 01342 321373.

CONNECTIONS is a new local group for anyone retired or semi-retired. The next meeting will be on Monday, February 6 in the church hall from 2pm to 4pm.

Come along to meet up with old and new friends, enjoy activities and games or just the opportunity to sit and chat with old and new friends over a cup of tea.

There will be a short informal Bible-based talk about things that matter.
